The Child Custody Issue

Child custody can be one of the most emotionally charged issues in your family law case.   There are so many different factors to consider when determining a custody order.  However, when parents cannot reach an agreement about custody then the matter is left in the hands of a Judge who is really an outsider with very little knowledge about the parties’ personal lives and which parent to believe — especially, when there are allegations of drug or alcohol abuse, child neglect or abuse, domestic violence or other events that are detrimental to the child. 

The first place that parents get stuck is whether to agree on “joint custody/”  There are so many misconceptions about legal affect of “joint custody.”  First off, parents should have some understanding of “legal custody” and “physical custody” to better reach agreements about custody,  Make sure you research the legal definitions prior to meeting and reaching agreeme
